I found this video of Melinda Gates on The Colbert Report to be pretty interesting and just wanted to share it here. In the interview she is talking about how they are trying to improve the public school system in the U.S. When asked what makes a good teacher she lists positive attributes that have come out of research that they have done. She then says students taught by teachers with these attributes are likely to do better on the test at the end of the year. I am assuming she is referring to the standardized testing we have all become familiar with. Later in the interview she mentions giving teachers ideas to teach in creative ways. I can't help but wonder what she really thinks of these tests and if she really thinks that they are a measurement of improvement. Any thoughts??
